2016 Sundowner 3 Horse Gooseneck Float

The heaviest-rated of our three horse floats. Axles rated 2,720 kg each, 16-inch wheels, a 5,900 kg manufacturer gross rating and an aluminium floor — this Sundowner gooseneck is built for three big horses and a full load of gear, not for compromise.

A 2.74 m long wall behind a 1.22 m short wall gives you a substantial dressing room.

Reading a gross rating properly

A 5,900 kg gross figure with a 1,840 kg tare leaves a large nominal allowance. That is the United States manufacturer’s rating, though, not an Australian ATM or GTM, and it does not by itself tell you what your combination is legally permitted to carry here. Take the figure as an indication of how the float is built, and get the Australian numbers from your state transport authority.

A dressing room you can live out of

A 2.74 m long wall is a genuinely large tack and change space — enough for saddles, rugs, a feed bin, a change of clothes and somewhere to sit while you wait for a class. Combined with the gooseneck layout, it is the practical middle ground between a plain float and a Weekender with plumbing.

Imported US-market stock. It has not been assessed against Australian Design Rules or any Australian registration, roadworthy or livestock welfare requirement, and no such compliance is claimed. Confirm requirements with your state transport authority before road use. If four bays would suit you better, compare our four horse floats.
