Export platform for over-width and over-height plant: a used 40ft rack with no walls, individually plated for shipping and stacking, and lashing points in the rails, deck and posts.
Some export cargo simply will not go in a box. Mining plant, transformers, boats, pre-fabricated steel, agricultural machinery — anything over-width or over-height travels on a flat rack, which is a container reduced to its floor and two end frames. Loads go on from above or from the side and are lashed to rings set into the side rails, the deck and the corner posts.
This is a used 40ft rack. End frames are supplied fixed or collapsible depending on the individual unit; collapsible frames fold flat so empty racks stack for the return leg.

Flat racks are plated for shipping and for stacking when loaded, and the figures that apply are the ones on the individual container’s plate. Have your freight forwarder and your rigger work from that document, not from a general specification.
Twenty-foot flat racks are stocked for shorter loads, and open top containers suit cargo that is long but within wall height and needs weather protection. See containers for export and the 40ft container range.
