Twelve metres of bare steel deck with an end frame at each end and nothing in between. Collapsible ends stack when empty; tie-down points run the length. Built for cargo no door will accept.
A flat rack is a container with the sides taken away: a heavy steel floor, a pair of end frames, and nothing else. It exists for cargo that will not fit through a door — transformers, boats, machinery, structural steel, anything wider or taller than the inside of a box. Loads go on from above or from the side, and lashing rings in the side rails, floor and corner posts take the restraint.
End frames are supplied either fixed or collapsible depending on the unit. The collapsible design folds flat so empty racks stack, which is why hire fleets and freight forwarders prefer them.

Flat racks are plated for shipping and for stacking when loaded, and the plate on the individual unit is what governs — not a general figure. Check it before you plan a stack or a lift, and have your rigger confirm the lift points.
Flat racks are stocked in 20ft and 40ft. If your load is under height but over length, an open top container may serve better and keeps the weather off. Browse the 40ft range and containers for export.
