A three-window steel gatehouse, 3 m x 2.44 m, giving a guard clear sight lines in three directions from a lockable, weatherproof post. Corner-post base, ready for power on arrival.
A gatehouse lives or dies on sight lines, which is why this one has three windows. At 3 m x 2.44 m externally it is small enough to sit beside a boom gate or weighbridge without eating the driveway, and tall enough at 2.3 m internally for a guard to stand comfortably at the glass.
The build is secure steel with an 18 mm particle board floor and a lockable steel door. It is a permanent-feeling structure that can still be lifted and repositioned when the site entry moves – which on a long construction project, it always does.
Power for lighting, a heater or fan, a small fridge and the access-control gear is the main service to plan. Run that from the nearest board through a licensed electrician. If the guard will be there overnight, think about external lighting on the approach as well – it does more for safety than anything inside the cabin.
Corner posts on four level bearing points. Position it so the guard is looking at approaching vehicles through glass rather than over a shoulder, and leave room for a vehicle to stop clear of the boom. Other small cabins are grouped under cabins for sale; if the gatehouse will be a fixture, our council approval guide explains how relocatable buildings are usually assessed.
