2012 CM 3HBP 3 Horse Float

A hay rack on the roof is the practical detail that separates this three horse float from its siblings. It moves bulky hay out of the horse area and off the floor, which frees the tack room for gear and keeps dust away from the horses on a long trip.

This CM 3HBP is all aluminium, with a 5.18 m box, 2,360 kg axles and around 1,360 kg unladen — light for a three-horse float.

Where the hay goes

Hay is bulky, it is dusty, and it fills a tack room faster than anything else you carry. A roof rack keeps it up and out of the way, and lets you strap a load down for a multi-day trip without eating into the space you need for saddles and rugs. Access does require a ladder or a step, so plan for that.

Light for its size

At approximately 1,360 kg unladen for a 5.18 m three-horse box, this is one of the lighter units in the class. Aluminium construction is why. It leaves more of your tow vehicle’s rated capacity available for horses and gear — although with three horses aboard you should still work the numbers carefully against your own vehicle’s plated figures.
