A light 1,270 kg all-aluminium two-horse float from 1995 — no rust to fight, a 0.61 m tack wall and 2.13 m of interior height, towable behind a wagon rather than a truck.
An all-aluminium two-horse float from 1995 that has outlasted most of what was built alongside it. Aluminium does not rust, and on a thirty-year-old float that single fact is usually the difference between a usable unit and a project. The Featherlite 2HSLBP is the oldest two horse float we list, an angle-load tag unit with a short 0.61 m tack wall up front.
At 1,270 kg empty it is one of the lightest two-horse floats we list, which opens it up to owners towing with a wagon or a mid-size dual-cab rather than a full-size truck.
Steel floats of this vintage almost always need attention where the floor meets the frame — that is where urine, moisture and road salt collect. An all-aluminium body sidesteps the worst of it. You should still have the floor, the coupling, the brakes and the wiring inspected before any horse gets on it, but you are starting from a much better base.
A 2.13 m interior is quoted as 21 hands. That suits most stock horses, ponies and average-height thoroughbreds comfortably. If you campaign a warmblood or a big-framed showjumper, measure to the top of the poll with the head up before committing — look at the taller floats in our two horse float range instead.
This is imported US-market stock. Nothing here should be read as a claim that the float complies with Australian Design Rules, is registrable, is roadworthy, or meets any Australian livestock transport welfare code — none of that has been assessed. Have it inspected locally and confirm registration requirements with your state or territory transport authority before use. If you need a third bay, compare our three horse floats.
