The most thoroughly specified four-horse float we list — a Trails West Classic II with triple-wall construction, gas-shock divider holdbacks, 1,041 mm pin-to-pin stalls and a four-stage paint system.
This is the most completely documented of our four horse floats, right down to the paint process: phosphatising pre-treatment, pre-prime polymer coating, epoxy primer, then infrared-cured polyurethane. Trails West build the Classic II to be maintained rather than replaced, and the specification reads that way.
Upgraded to 2.24 m of height, with a first-stall escape door, a side escape door with a drop-down feed door, and a 6.6 m floor.
A gas strut holds each divider open while you load, then damps it closed rather than letting it swing. With four horses to load in sequence, that removes both the risk of a divider swinging into a horse and the need for a second person to hold it. Small mechanism, used sixteen times a weekend.
Three layers with air gaps between them insulates far better than a single skin and gives the interior rubber lining something rigid to back onto. It adds mass, which shows in the 2,160 kg tare, but it is mass in the right place on a float carrying four animals.
Imported US-market stock. Despite the detail above, none of this specification has been assessed against Australian Design Rules, state registration or roadworthy requirements, or any Australian livestock transport welfare code, and no such compliance is claimed. The 59 mm coupling is a US size and will need addressing for an Australian tow vehicle. Track a placed order through order tracking.
