1998 Sundowner 3 Horse Angle Load Float

The cheapest way into a three horse float. This 1998 Sundowner angle-load is an older steel-framed unit with aluminium skin, a 5.18 m box and 2.13 m of interior height, and it is priced accordingly.

Buy it as a project or a paddock-to-pony-club workhorse rather than as a competition float, and get the floor, brakes and coupling assessed before it carries anything.

What an older float needs before it works

Budget for a full inspection: floor lifted and probed, bearings pulled and repacked, brake magnets and shoes checked, all lighting traced, coupling and safety chains assessed, and tyres replaced on age rather than tread. Do that and a float of this age can serve for another decade. Skip it and you will find out the hard way.

Three horses, one tow

A three-horse float pays for itself the first time you would otherwise have made two trips, or coordinated two vehicles to get a group to a rally. Even used for two horses most of the time, the extra bay means more room per animal on a long trip. Compare it with the newer units in our three horse float range.

Imported US-market stock. Australian consumer guarantees apply to this sale regardless of any “as is” wording in the original US listing, which we have not reproduced. The float has not been assessed against Australian Design Rules, state registration or roadworthy requirements, or any livestock transport welfare code, and no such compliance is claimed. Delivery is a flat A$450 Australia-wide; see our shipping policy.
