A 4.87 m x 3.05 m site office donga with a fixed open-plan layout, vinyl floor and timed panel heater. The size that finally fits a real site meeting without hiring a second cabin.
The 16 ft x 10 ft is where a donga stops being a hut and starts being an office. Internally it runs 4.67 m x 2.85 m, which takes two or three workstations along one wall and still leaves room for a table that a site meeting can actually sit around. Head contractors, civil crews and subdividers tend to land on this size once the job has more than one supervisor.
It comes from the fixed standard range – windows and doors in set positions, vinyl flooring, Goosewing Grey cladding and an electric timed panel heater. Nothing is bespoke, and that is what keeps the price down against a built-to-order cabin of the same size.
At just under five metres it still travels on a standard tilt-tray or hiab truck and turns into most compounds. Think about the swing radius at the gate and the overhead clearance for the crane arm rather than the cabin itself, which is usually what catches people out.
Four corner jacking legs handle the fall. Wind them onto pads, not soil, and re-check after the first heavy rain – a cabin this length shows a twist in the door long before you notice it in the floor.
The standard range can be supplied open plan with or without a fitted canteen bench. If the crew will be eating in it, specify that up front rather than adding a bench later. Other sizes are grouped under cabins for sale, and if you are comparing against a 20 ft container fit-out, the usable internal figures are in our dimensions guide.
