A used 40ft open top — removable bows and a weatherproof tarpaulin instead of a steel roof, and a swing-clear door header. Twelve metres of crane-loadable space for oversized machinery.
Twelve metres of container with the roof off. This 40ft open top carries removable bows and a weatherproof tarpaulin instead of corrugated steel, so a crane can lower a long machine straight down into it and the tarpaulin closes it back up afterwards. The header above the cargo doors also swings clear, giving a second option for feeding a long load in end-on.
It is a used ex-shipping-line unit, sold for both freight and site storage, and it is the container people buy when the alternative is dismantling the load to get it through a doorway.

The bows and tarpaulin are not optional weather protection. They contribute to the container’s strength and must be fitted for transport, which is why an over-height load cannot travel in an open top — it has to go on a flat rack instead. Plan the load height against the wall height, not against the tarpaulin.
Loading needs a crane or a Franna with clear standing room beside the container, and the lift is usually the harder part of the job to book. Coordinate the container delivery and the crane on the same day where you can, and have the lashing points identified in advance.
A 20ft open top is stocked for shorter loads, and flat racks in both lengths cover over-height cargo. See the 40ft container range, or read our dimensions guide for internal clearances.
