20ft High Cube Open Top Shipping Container

A high cube open top combines two things that are individually useful and together fairly rare: 2.9 metres of external height, and no fixed roof. The steel roof structure is replaced by removable bows and a weatherproof tarpaulin, so an over-height machine can be lowered in from above and then closed up for transport or storage.

The door header above the cargo doors also swings clear, giving a second route in for anything long. Lashing rings are fitted for restraining the load once it is aboard.

This is a crane job, not a forklift job. Book the lift and the container delivery together, and make sure the crane has standing room beside the final position — on most sites that is the constraint rather than the container itself.

The limits of an open top

The bows and tarpaulin contribute to the container’s structure and must be fitted for transport, so a genuinely over-height load cannot travel in one — that goes on a flat rack, which has no roof and no sides.
