40ft x 8ft Used Standard Shipping Container

The standard 40ft is the cheapest secure square metre in the catalogue. Twelve metres long, around 68 cubic metres inside, built from Corten weathering steel with a marine plywood floor and cargo doors that lock properly. These are ex-shipping-line units, checked by our technical team and sold wind and watertight.

They go into paddocks, laydown yards, workshops and construction sites, and a fair proportion of them become workshops, sheds or conversion projects rather than staying as storage.

The access question

Delivery is by tilt-tray, and a 40ft needs a genuinely straight, firm approach with room for the truck to work — in practice around 30 metres. Overhead clearance matters too. If your access is doubtful, two 20ft containers may be the better answer than one 40ft; they cost more per square metre but they will actually get there.

Getting the base right
