40ft Used Shipping Container

This is the bottom of the 40ft market and we are not going to dress it up. These are ex-shipping-line containers that have been thoroughly used: expect faded and patched paint, dents through the corrugations, and surface rust around the roof and door frames. What is guaranteed is that they are structurally sound and wind and watertight.

For twelve metres of lockable, dry, secure space on a farm, a yard or a laydown area, nothing else in the catalogue comes close on cost per square metre.

Be realistic about appearance

If the container is going somewhere it will be looked at every day, or anywhere a neighbour or a council might take an interest, budget for a respray or buy a better grade. Cheap 40ft stock looks exactly like what it is, and no amount of description prepares some buyers for it.

Conversion and modification

These containers are frequently bought as raw material rather than as finished storage. Lining and insulation, personnel doors, windows and a respray in any RAL colour can all be done before dispatch at additional cost — which is cheaper and neater than organising trades once it is sitting in your paddock.
