Of the Hero units in our enclosed trailer category, this is the one to read the fine print on. It is listed with a 59 mm (US 2-5/16 in.) coupling rated at 14,000 lb — approximately 6,350 kg — and with four recessed floor rings rated 2,270 kg each, rather than the plain fitted rings on the rest of the Hero line.

Coupling size is not a detail

The 59 mm ball is a US size. Australian tow vehicles almost universally run a 50 mm ball, so this coupling will not fit a standard Australian tow bar without change. That is a straightforward thing to address, but it must be addressed by someone competent, and the resulting combination has to satisfy your state’s requirements.

Recessed rings versus surface rings

Surface-mounted rings catch trolley wheels, creepers and toes. Recessed rings sit flush in the floor, so the deck stays clear when the trailer is empty and nothing gets levered loose when something heavy slides across it.
