Grey Dove is the least conspicuous colour across our enclosed trailer range, and there is a practical argument for it: a trailer that does not announce what might be inside is a trailer that gets less attention in a motel carpark. This one runs aluminium wheels rather than the standard black mods.

Otherwise it is the familiar Hero recipe — 7.32 m, aluminium roof, 152 mm tube frame, engineered lining, drop spring axles.

Aluminium wheels on a budget trailer

Aluminium rims shed heat faster than steel, which is genuinely useful on a long, hot tow where the brakes are working. They also do not rust from the inside out where the tyre bead sits — a common way steel trailer rims eventually fail after years of coastal use.

Servicing a spring-axle trailer

Leaf springs, shackles and bushes are consumable items and they are cheap. Check the U-bolts for tension, the shackle bushes for play and the hangers for cracking once a year or after any long unsealed-road trip. Parts are available from any trailer supplier in the country, which is more than can be said for some proprietary suspension systems.
