Why this length keeps coming up

At 7.92 m you can fit a car, a full set of spare wheels standing against the front bulkhead, a bench and a fridge, and still walk down one side of the car. Shorter and something has to travel on the roof of the car; longer and you start needing a bigger tow vehicle. It is the sweet spot for a one-car operation that runs properly.
