Small dump trailers get used more than big ones. This 5 x 10 Griffin is short enough to reverse down a suburban driveway and light enough at 860 kg to tow behind a dual cab, but it still tips a rated 2,316 kg of soil, mulch or demolition waste.

Power up and power down on the 12 V hydraulic pump is worth having – lowering under power means you can slap the body back down against a load rather than waiting for gravity, and it keeps working on an uneven site where a gravity-down body will hang.

A word on density

The trap with a small dump trailer is that a full body of wet soil or road base will exceed the rated payload long before the body is level with the top of the walls. Work in weight, not volume.
