Short wall, long wall — what the numbers mean

On a gooseneck or a float with a raised nose, the short wall is the vertical face at the front of the living or tack space and the long wall is the full-height section behind it. A 0.61 m short wall with a 2.13 m long wall means a compact tack space that still lets you stand up in most of it. It is the practical minimum for storing rugs, saddles and a feed bin.

Corrosion and coastal towing

Steel-framed floats used near the coast need the underside washed after every trip and the chassis inspected annually. Salt finds its way into every seam. If the float will live at Torquay, Ballina or anywhere with sea air, budget for that maintenance from day one.

Imported US-market stock. This float has not been assessed against Australian Design Rules, state registration or roadworthy standards, or any livestock transport welfare code, and no such compliance is claimed. Have it inspected locally before carrying horses. Compare it against the newer units in our two horse float category.
