A gooseneck at this size

Most two-horse floats are tag units on a ball. Putting a two-horse box on a gooseneck gives you far better tracking and reversing than the length would suggest, and it takes the nose weight off the back of the vehicle and puts it over the axle. The cost is that you need a ute or truck with a suitable tray and an engineered gooseneck hitch.

Steel frame, aluminium skin

This construction is common on floats of this era and it works well, but the steel frame is where age shows. Have the chassis, the floor bearers and the area under the mats checked before purchase — surface rust is normal and manageable, structural rust is not.
