A 1999 4-Star reverse angle load two-horse float and stock combination — horses travel rear-facing on the diagonal, and the back can run open for cattle when it is not carrying horses.
Reverse angle load is the interesting part. Instead of facing the horses back towards the tow vehicle at an angle, this 4-Star turns them the other way, so they travel facing the rear on the diagonal. A lot of horses balance better that way, and unloading brings them out head-first rather than backing down blind.
Unusually for a two horse float, it is also set up as a float-and-stock combination, so the rear can be run open for cattle, calves or loose stock when it is not carrying horses.
On braking, a rear-facing horse leans into its hindquarters rather than propping on its front legs. Many float owners report calmer travellers and less scrambling. It is not universal — some horses simply prefer facing forward — so if you can, try before you commit.
Being able to drop the internal fittings and run the back as a stock crate suits agistment moves, small-property owners and anyone who occasionally needs to shift cattle or sheep as well as horses. It is a genuinely useful second function that a dedicated float will not give you.
Imported US-market unit. No assessment has been made against Australian Design Rules, state registration requirements, or any Australian livestock transport welfare code, and no such compliance is claimed. Have the float inspected by a qualified person and check requirements with your state transport authority before carrying any animal. Delivery is a flat A$450 Australia-wide — see our shipping policy.
