The smallest genuine shipping container we stock: a one-trip 8ft in RAL 6007 green, Cor-Ten steel with a marine plywood floor and forklift pockets. Fits through a gate, resists an angle grinder.
An 8ft container is the smallest box that still behaves like a real shipping container: Cor-Ten steel, cargo doors, forklift pockets, and a lock you can actually trust. At 2.44 m long it drops onto a standard ute tray footprint, fits through a double gate, and is the size tradespeople and clubs buy when the alternative — a Colorbond shed — would be cut open with a grinder in under a minute. This one is finished in RAL 6007 green and is a one-trip unit, built to ISO dimensions in China and shipped out with a single cargo.
Despite the size it keeps the full 28 mm marine plywood floor on steel cross members, so it will take heavy tools, generators and drum stock without flexing.
| External dimensions (L x W x H) | 2.44 m x 2.20 m x 2.26 m |
|---|---|
| Internal dimensions (L x W x H) | 2.29 m x 2.11 m x 2.06 m |
| Door opening (W x H) | 2.11 m x 1.95 m |
| Colour | RAL 6007 green |
| Condition | New – one trip only |
| Construction | Cor-Ten weathering steel |
| Floor | 28 mm marine plywood on steel cross members |
| Doors | Hinged double doors, one locking bar per door |
| Ventilation | Minimum 2 vents |
| Handling | 2 forklift pockets |
Its weight and the two forklift pockets mean a 3-tonne forklift or a small telehandler can reposition it once it is off the truck — something you cannot do with a 20ft. That flexibility is the main reason people step down to this size rather than up. Do still put it on sleepers or pavers so water drains away from the door end.
The same 8ft shell is stocked in blue, and there is a matching 8ft bunded store if you are keeping chemicals. See the full 8ft and 10ft container range, or read the council approval guide before placing a container on a residential block.
