10ft x 8ft One Trip Shipping Container – Green

Green is the colour that gets past a neighbour and, often enough, past a planner. On a rural block, a school ground or a golf course a bottle-green container reads as infrastructure rather than as a shipping container parked on the lawn, and several councils will make colour a condition of consent. This 10ft is a one-trip unit, built to ISO dimensions in China and shipped out with a single cargo.

It is structurally a new container: unfaded paint, soft door seals, a 28 mm marine plywood floor and a CSC plate rated to 10.1 tonnes gross.

Getting consent for it

Setting it down properly

Four bearers or concrete pads under the corner castings, on ground that drains. A container sitting flat on soil traps moisture underneath, rots nothing but rusts the underside, and shifts as the ground moves — at which point the doors stop closing cleanly.
