A 16 ft single-axle mobile canteen with steel shutters, corner levelling legs and room for a full crew. Delivered by truck, then towed and repositioned around site as the work face moves.
Stretching the mobile canteen to 16 ft buys nearly 1.2 m of extra internal length over the 12 ft, which in practice is the difference between a crew of four squeezing in and a crew of six sitting down properly. It stays on a single axle, so it still tows and manoeuvres easily behind a ute, 4WD or site dumper.
The unit is designed for contracts where the work face travels and for sites a conventional cabin truck simply cannot service – narrow road reserves, soft paddock access, live traffic corridors. Steel shutters and a steel door system close it up securely when the crew knocks off.
Water and electricity connections are required, and either can come from mains or a site generator. That is worth planning around: a mobile welfare unit is only as mobile as the services trailing behind it, so most crews pair it with a genset and a water cube on the same shift.
Normal practice is offload by truck once, then tow into position and level on the four corner legs. Wind the legs onto timber or pads so they do not sink into a wet verge, and chock the wheels before anyone gets in.
Utility contractors, civil and groundwork companies, defence and emergency services all run wheeled welfare units for the same reason: the cabin follows the job instead of the job walking back to the cabin. Fixed alternatives in the same crib and canteen family are listed under cabins for sale. For any unit that ends up parked semi-permanently, check the council approval guide.
